The Libertarian Party

The Libertarian Party is “The Party of Principle” because they stand firmly on principles.

Libertarians strongly oppose any government interference in their personal, family, and business decisions. Essentially, we believe all Americans should be free to live their lives and pursue their interests as they see fit as long as they do no harm to another.

The Libertarian Party was founded in 1971, they run many hundreds of candidates every election cycle. These candidates seek positions ranging from City Council to President of the United States. Each of these candidates helps to give liberty a voice. The LP is active all across America. They have affiliates in every state and several hundred candidates on ballots every election cycle.

Community issues across the country

Libertarians are neither liberals nor conservatives, Libertarians advocate a high degree of both personal and economic liberty. They advocate freedom in economic matters, so they are in favor of:

  • Lowering and eliminating taxes
  • Slashing bureaucratic regulation of business
  • And charitable — rather than government — welfare

Libertarians are also socially inclusive. They believe each person should be free to make their own choices so long as they do not infringe on others’ rights. We oppose laws that seek to control people’s personal choices. They believe that all individuals have the right to exercise sole dominion over their own lives, and have the right to live in whatever manner they choose, so long as they do not forcibly interfere with the equal right of others to live in whatever manner they choose.

Governments throughout history have regularly operated on the opposite principle, that the State has the right to dispose of the lives of individuals and the fruits of their labor. Even within the United States, all political parties other than LP grant to government the right to regulate the lives of individuals and seize the fruits of their labor without their consent.
