Voting in America 2020

Voting in America 2020 — in the year of a global pandemic — Covid-19 has taken over the world and not in a good way. It’s a deadly virus that has swept the world, killed many, scared many more, changed the way we do things and caused a whole lot of controversy.

Many people have died, there is no question — that is an irrefutable fact. Many people have been hospitalized and very ill — that is an irrefutable fact. We — the United States of America — have been and still are very much in the throws of the pandemic, six months later and no end in sight. We have learned a lot and will continue to learn as time goes by. Our medical experts are playing catch up with this deadly virus, they were unprepared — we have never been in the pace before.

We were unprepared

We — the United States — were unprepared for the deadly virus. We did not know it existed, thanks to China and The World Health Organization. They both lied about the severity of the virus and compromised the population of the entire world. Once we finally ‘knew’ without a doubt the virus was in the US and easily transmittable from person to person, it was almost too late, much of the damage was already done. Our nation and people had been invaded by a virus that we were told did not spread from human to human — they lied.

Once it became obvious that we had a national health emergency on our hands — the unthinkable remedies began to take place. First — shut down travel from China, a logical good move. Little did we know at the time that the virus had already left China (duh) and we really needed to shut down ALL travel in and out of the country as well as within the country — to contain the virus. That’s hindsight — we will know better next time.

Great idea, right?

Then, we shut down the country — every non-essential worker was asked to stay home, stay inside, work from home if possible, and do not go outside unless absolutely necessary. The best advice our medical experts could give us at the time was to do everything humanly possible to avoid contracting and spreading the disease. Great idea, right?

Well, some think so and some do not — that is the beginning of the extreme controversy that has led us to this difficult time in our history. For several months responsible ‘front-line’ workers were the only people allowed to leave their home except for purchasing essential supplies. We had to stop the transmission of the disease so that the hospitals would not be overwhelmed and our medical workers could take care of the victims of Covid-19.

Follow the science

As time has gone by and we have “followed the science”, listened dutifully to every direction from our ‘medical experts’ to mitigate this terrible pandemic so that we can avoid getting sick and/or spreading the disease — and — we become restless, annoyed, and began to question the ‘experts’. We cannot stay home for a year, neglect our jobs and businesses, we need to find a way to work with this terrible virus. You see, viruses have been here much longer than we have and they will continue to be here long after we are gone. We have learned much about how to manage this disease and we need to get back to life, which includes a Presidential Election.

So, now the question becomes — how?  How do we send the kids back to school, how do we open businesses again, how do we safely go back to life and participate in a very important election for our President?

Voting in America 2020

We have 60 days, 2 months, and a whole lot of controversy about how to safely do this. What is the best method for voting? We have a tradition of voting in person, it has been done that way since the beginning of voting. And, now — we are entertaining the idea of mail-in voting for everyone. Some say that would be a security disaster — a logistical nightmare and — a great big mess all the way around. It could be — and — with all of the advances of modern technology, voting machines are not as safe as we would like them to be. So, we are currently in a pickle — this story has more to be revealed.
